29 new cases and 17 recovered.

Today there are 29 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in RAM. These are 15 imported cases (6 from France, 4 from the United Kingdom, 3 from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, 1 from Belgium and 1 from the Netherlands) and 14 cases of local transmission.

There are a further 17 recovered cases, and currently in the Region there are 213 active cases, of which 88 are imported cases and 125 are of local transmission.

  1. Could you possibly advise how many of the positive cases from the UK have been double vaccinated. Many thanjs.

  2. Yes it does make one wounder why this information is withheld to the public it would be very interesting to know.

    1. Yes, they are secretely hiding from us. Although vaccinated people don’t have to test at the airport they are secretely testing them and surprise surprise, the 15 cases are probably double jabbed who have been secretely tested at the airport although they don’t have to and they are secretely hiding it from us.

        1. Sorry, I was being ironic. Vaccinated people are not tested so it does not make sense to talk about how many imported cases who tested positive were fully vaccinated.

  3. If double jabbed people are not being tested at the airport, are the imported cases being detected by PCR testing at the airport?????

    1. The vaccinated are entering the island with no PCR test spreading virus the government really have no idea how many covid cases there is.

      1. However only 6 people in hospital. It’s a miracle there are so many infected people but so few in hospital.

        1. However not everyone ends up in hospital while infected with covid.? No PCR test for the vaccinated infected people are free to roam the streets undetected.

          1. And if there are lots of vaccinated infected people roaming on the street isn’t the main problem that they will infect other people and some of those will end up in hospital? However, numbers in hospital don’t grow so it means there aren”t that many vaccinated people roaming down the street and infecting others as you suggest…?

          2. At night, under a full moon, in a black cape, they roam the dimly lit streets of Funchal. Oooohhh.

Unless the UK passengers visit a Doctor after feeling symptoms, and the Doctor notifies the authorities we must assume these are passengers have not been double vaccinated and therefore tested at the airport. Which is what is needed as it prevents them spreading the virus. But every comments column has to have it’s conspiracy expert. See below.

  7. If someone tests positive when they arrive at the airport I assume they have to quarantine – but what about all the other passengers on the flight?
    Are other passengers advised that someone on their flight tested positive on arrival? Do all passengers (or just those who sat near the infected person?) have to self isolate for x days or are they notified to take a test? What about the flight attendants for the return flight – do they test routinely before every flight?
    All passengers should be told so they can take precautions until they have taken a test.
    Arrivals to UK are told to self isolate if someone on their flight tests positive with their Day2 return test (at least, that was the rule in June – who knows, it changes daily!).

    1. No one is asked to self-isolate because someone tested positive on the same flight unless it is someone part of the same household or group. The changes of in-flight contamination are slim and Madeira has documented that quite well.

      The fact that UK is asking people from the flights to self-isolate but then allows people to go to the disco or pub with no mask or test or social distancing, is to me ridiculous. Seems like someone is trying to stop the wind with their hands to me.

      1. Thanks Antonio – I agree the UK rules are ridiculous. Our government is happy for us to get infected but pretends to be trying to keep us safe with border controls – too little too late. I agree air travel is relatively low risk, especially with pre-flight tests and mask wearing (though some people seem to use the excuse of eating/drinking to take of their mask for most of the flight!).

  8. The test need speeding up so they can test effectively at the airport either pre boarding or when you land. Hand out test and do a simple saliva test rather than all this prodding up your nose etc. Simple hey?!
