Thank you for all the comments and emails I have been receiving, I’m ploughing through them as quick as I can today, and have replied to 83 emails that have come in today alone.

Most of your questions I have managed to answer, and some I have added to a list to send to Dorita Mendonça which I will be doing later, and hopefully will have answers tomorrow.

  1. We had this problem last Friday and spoke to our local health centre, they printed one out and when we informed them the QR code didnt work they told us not to worry it was an official document. As ever if you are resident you can apply in person for the number but it takes a couple of months. There are several people here in Porto Santo with the same issue that i have spoken to

I am a resident here and have all my paperwork and both vaccines, however I have tried to get my digital passport to no avail, where do I go to clear this up, if I go to techno polo they probably will send to nazare my local medical centre (where I had to register) and they will probably send me some where else and that in turn will probably send somewhere else, I know already I am going to end up going in circles

    1. Michael; Do you mean your digital certificate? If so, get the SNS24 app, register, go to Certificado Digital COVID and you can print it out.

    I am registered on sesame and have got the app, but when I try to get my registration on the sns24 it doesn’t recognise my information, will try with David’s advice and go to the medical centre

Michael I had this problem Phoned the Machico Clinic De Saude they checked my details resent them to SNS24 and 4 hours later could get my certificate. so try with Nazare 1st my was because my hone no was not sent to SNS24 so it did not recognise me even though every thing was correct on the SESARAM site

  4. We came here from Norway three weeks ago, and are going back next Tuesday. We do of course have vaccination certificate. Our plans for the last week should not need a test (only visiting super markets and maybe buses).
    Question is: is there a need for anything but the vaccination certificate for departing passengers to enter the airport?

  5. Interesting. So frequent visitors without the utente number can’t currently obtain proof they have been vaccinated here in Madeira? Or is it that they can’t obtain a digital certificate? If they get a paper, is that paper accepted as a valid document of proof of vaccination when they try to go out in public? I can see this causing problems for all kinds of people: frequent visitors, long-term tourists, undocumented immigrants…

  6. Hello Tobi. I do hope you are all well. Myself and my partner have just arrived today, and everything has been so slick and easy, that I would like to tell everyone not to be afraid or anxious about coming to Madeira. Jet2 holidays have kept us fully informed prior to flying today, and the reps at the airport were superb at backing up this information, so that everyone is ready, as best they can be. We are staying in the Lido area of Funchal, and whilst we were waiting for our room at Pestana Palms to become available, we found a little testing tent, right at the top of the hill on the main road, and we only waited about 20 minutes to be tested. We were not going to bother after hearing about bad queues elsewhere, but as this was there we thought we would give it a go. If anyone doesn’t want to take the free test then that is fine. It just means you could be restricted to just eating in your hotel, catering for yourself if you have an apartment or villa, and are not bothered about restaurants or bars. Supermarkets, most shops and the buses are all good for just vaccination certificate, so I would just say turn up on the island as planned, see how you feel, and just adapt your situation accordingly. I hope this helps. We are over the moon to be back as it is just wonderful!! If you do take the tests then the results can take a while, ours were 4 hours roughly, but the staff at the testing tent advised us of the wait, so you can make an informed choice as to go ahead or not.   7. Arrived here today people walking around un masked more than are masked buses bars restaurants not asking for anything situation normal

I do get what the government is trying to do the huge majority of transmission is by residents the new rules on testing will identify more cases yes but even if rules are almost impossible to enforce people will be naturally more cautious which will have a positive effect and I am more happy to produce evidence if required
    People should come and enjoy their holiday and just go.with the flow

  10. Now another test to get back into UK! What next – red list and quarantine. We go back Thursday but seriously considering leaving Monday.

  11. Since arriving on 25th November, we’ve spotted a number of people wearing Madeira colours facemasks. When we asked a wearer where we could buy one, we were told that they were being handed out for free at the airport, along with a banana(!). So if you would like one, keep your eyes peeled at the airport.

  12. Tobi, we have had two lovely weeks in Madeira but sadly have to leave tomorrow. Thank you to everyone that has made this holiday so good and safe. The Porto hotels are doing covid tests for return travel – free. All being well we will be back in February.

  13. We had a great time in Madeira but there is absolutely no way I would travel now. Covid is out of control. Even if this is a mild virus the risks are too great. Feels like day one again.

  15. It happens to me frequently. I have to go into my wordpress account and make sure the notify me by emails for this blog is checked correctly. I haven’t been able to figure out why the emails stop but I now know what to do to fix it. It is not on Tobi’s end. Good luck!

  16. It would appear that it will now be necessary to have an antigen test to get into Madeira. This to be taken under supervision before departure or at Funchal airport. This information from gov.uk, travel to Portugal. Are you aware of this?
