VACCINATION CERTIFICATE OR TEST AT SUPERMARKET ENTRANCE

Customers of supermarkets in the Region must, from 00:00 hours on Saturday, November 20, present a digital certificate or rapid antigen test to enter the space.

The words were uttered moments ago by the government official, who is speaking to people from Madeira about the new health control measures for covid-19, with a view to ‘save’ Christmas and the New Year.

    1. What one needs to ask is why the increase of covid cases if everyone is vaccinated. Bedsides masks don’t prevent the spread anyway. I would say more like follow the money. A is making big money for it…

  2. Did the health dept get the problems fixed with trying to get a digital certificate. I tried 3 times last month and never got it to work. Maybe you can post again the access information to get the digital certificate please. I just got my booster.

  3. Stupid donkey government the Island will suffer dearly and a great shame this will put a end to any unvaccinated tourists coming to the island which will cost Madeira big time.

  5. It is ridiculous to make it difficult for people who are either unvaccinated or don’t have digital certificates to even eat, forcing them to choose between food and invasive weekly testing. And even for those who are vaccinated, it looks like they too will undergo the weekly test to access anything at all other than supermarkets. A few days ago they were saying don’t panic, don’t react without hysteria, and then they put up these over the top controls.

  6. I am (fingers crossed) coming out on 27 November. Just what will happen to us tourists. Have got papers to say had all three plus flu injections. Have had the past two years at Christmas cut short. Staying 2 months.

    Something should have been do when the rise in infections started. Always said at start how well Madeira was controlling things.

  7. Jérémy, you did not listen to the press conference. Albuquerque clearly stated several times that you will be REQUIRED to present either vaccine certificate or a test to enter the supermarket. “Recommended” is political/legal language, as in the recommendations of the executive council. You’ll see that they “recommend” a certificate or test for entry to the port of Madeira. That does not mean that it’s just optional. If you listen to the press conference in Portuguese, it’s very clear that a document will be required to go to the supermarket.

  11. As someone who is a firm supporter of the vaccines, I find this very wrong. Supermarkets are a basic service to which everyone is entitled to. I might not agree with the anti-vaxxers but that doesn’t mean you should starve them into submission. Just plain wrong.

  12. Gladly I still didn´t invest anything in this island. And it won´t happen. I remember a taxi-driver in Juni 2021 who was this frightened from the lockdown before. He said “just imagine there werde no people in the street. And no cars on the street. Funchal was like a ghost town….” And no business of course. Not only for taxi drivers, And even though vaccines obviously don´t work – no mention of Ivermectin, Hydroxychloroquin as a prophilactic or early phase treatment. These drugs are cheap, tested but … on the market, therefore not patentable. So all generica producers can manufacture it. Cheaply. No treatment is even considered. Only vaccinations….
    And only patentable drugs are allowed … Time to think for yourself. Guess why?.

  13. Get a grip on reality please. I spent 10 years in the US Navy going to Asian countries and got vaccinated every time against numerous diseases and so did kids in schools, in fact vaccinations were required and still are. What the HELL is the problem with another vaccine? Got the flu vaccine also and no debates. If someone told me to take a medicine made to de worm horses for ANYTHING I would question their sanity. Everyone hates big pharma but unfortunately they have the scientists and the equipment to make the drugs to cure diseases, so too bad, that’s how capitalism works.
