Avelino Farinha’s first judicial interrogation concluded

On the 13th day of detention and after three questions and answers, this Monday, February 5th, the first judicial interrogation of Avelino Farinha, one of the three defendants detained as part of the alleged corruption case in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, ended.

The Madeiran businessman’s statements to the criminal investigation judge began on Friday afternoon, continued on Saturday, were resumed this morning and concluded at 5:30 pm today.

Pedro Calado is the next defendant to be heard by magistrate Jorge Bernardes de Melo, responsible for the case assigned by lottery. The interrogation of the former mayor could begin either this Monday or tomorrow.

It is known that the defense is now making requests to the Central Criminal Instruction Court.

Today’s proceedings are scheduled to end at 8 pm with the bailiffs abandoning the strike during overtime.
