DELAYS IN TAP FLIGHTS FROM MADEIRA AGAIN GENERATE Outrage / Banks Closed

The experience of having a delayed or canceled flight is never pleasant, let alone on Christmas Eve.

Some TAP flights departing from Madeira Airport to Lisbon on Tuesday morning are delayed by several hours, something that has generated a wave of outrage.

Jornal Madeira came up with criticism from a reader, who said that while TAP and easyJet are “the only ones we often have left to leave the island,” he will complain to the company after seeing the canceled flight, allegedly without notice either by email or SMS.

The solution found by TAP was a place on the 8:45 flight that, at this time (10:15), has not yet taken off.

“Merry Christmas TAP thank you for delaying my Christmas,” he said.

Banks are also closed today I noticed, since when has Christmas Eve become a Bank Holiday? or has it always been like this. Does that mean the post office is also closed today, anyone noticed.???

  2. My wife experienced the ultimate in poor service from TAP Airportugal last Thursday. The 1805hrs flight to Lisbon was still on the ground at nine pm with the board saying it was delayed to seven forty five. With no explanation as to the delay. In fact they were changing the tyres. My wife had sat in her wheelchair from four pm until nine thirty. Carlos, one of the quite excellent porters pushing around the two hundred people that pass through the airport in a day needing this service had been drafted off to deal with other passengers. No one came from the airline to make sure she was okay. Did she need the bathroom etc? Her connecting flight from Lisbon was missed by a country mile. Then a rep turned up and told her she was going at ten thirty, would be put up in an hotel in Lisbon and be flown out the next evening. She tried to protest but the rep was far too important to listen to a second class citizen in a wheelchair that had trouble speaking. They didn’t ask if she could cope in an hotel on her own at night. She cannot.
    Fortunately I had been able to contact her from London via WhatsApp. She had become quite desperate because no one was talking to her. When the rep did come she was only interested in talking and not listening. I spoke with the rep and she was amazed that my wife did not want to go to a Lisbon and spend the night in a hotel at the airline’s expense. Disabled must surely mean something?
    The disabled service at Funchal airport is very, very good. Their job is to smooth the passage of those unable to get from check in to their aircraft seat. Sadly it is abused by some people who simply want a quick way through an airport. The airlines are generally good but TAP has proven more than once to be uncaring.
