Explosive object found in the Lido.

The Weapons and  Nuclear Explosives experts of the Public Security Police of Madeira, found this evening a detonating object in the Lido swimming complex, in Funchal just after 7pm.

According to a source who contacted the Diario, it is a metallic object, capable of detonating an explosive charge.

The complex was partially evacuated before the authorities arrived, despite the doors closing at 8 pm.

The piece has already been removed, and has been taken away for forensics.

According to a source who contacted the Diario, the object in question is of French manufacture and is used by the Air Force and Navy for signaling castaways or other kind of incidents on the high seas.

The piece may have been used in some military exercise. Its still not clear if the object was found in the water lodged under the Lido platform, or on dry land.
