The partner of the missing British tourist who was swept out to sea on Praia Formosa Wednesday night, has spoken her pain to the Mirror Newspaper.

  2. I live at Praia Formosa where the incident occurred – several articles have referred to the Pestana Palms The Daily Mirror article even shows a picture of the Pestana Palms. A very sad accident but I find it very strange that such an experienced sailor would endanger his life just to feel the “sea on his face”. Also of course endangering the lives of those who have spent many hours in treacherous conditions searching for him.

Thanks for that Toby, but it is strange that the press and tv have been down at Praia Formosa conducting interviews, police have also been there for several days and the roads leading to the beach and sea have been blocked off with barriers to attempt to prevent people trying to get close to the beach and sea. I live at Atlantic Gardens next to Atlantic Bay Hotel. We know the Palms very well also. The helicopter and sea searches were very concentrated in our area. A very sad event and condolences to this man’s family and partner who obviously have a difficult time ahead.

  3. I’m sure we all, from time to time, make mistakes . None of us are perfect . It’s a very sad situation for his family and children . Yes , it shouldn’t have happened , but it did . We really should spare a thought for those he left behind . His children know it’s likely they will never be able to put their father to rest .
