A took a walk under the runway yesterday, and what a sorry state it is all in. Another great idea, lets spend loads of money, make a great sports complex under the runway, and then just leave it to rot.
The area was opened in August 2009, and you can look back on images I took then just after it had opened.
Now it is in a very sorry state, none of the snack bars are open, plants have just been left to die, 90 5 of the grass has gone, the metal everywhere is all rusty, most sports areas are in need or repair and attention. How can the Government of Madeira just leave something like this, as they have done with many other places over the island. Such a wast of money, and a great area gone bad once again.
