Racing is a bad idea. Racing with a passenger is a really bad idea. Not sure what happened here but have an idea based on my observations of the vast majority motorcyclists here over the past several years. Tragic and no one deserves to die like that.

In reply to F. The exhaust sound as a safety measure is ridiculous and has been debunked. First of all when seconds matter, the echoing sound of an exhaust of a fast moving bike is difficult to pinpoint in seconds. In fact, you could argue that it would actually distract the motorist as they attempt to pinpoint the location of the incoming rocket, causing an accident. I find it interesting that it’s illegal to modify motor vehicles here without approval yet Funchal sounds like a F1 or Moto GP circuit every day, evening, and night. It really degrades the area.

The VR network in Madeira is only about 50 km long, so installing a security camera network shouldn’t be too difficult. However, if the PSP lacks the resources to fine drivers who park dangerously on sidewalks and corners—obstructing everyone’s view—managing such a surveillance system would only add to their workload, wouldn’t it?

In reply to Michael. The exhausts upset people because of their noise, but at least you know the bikers coming. The biggest cause of death is drivers not looking and bikers travelling at speeds beyond their control or expertise. Unfortunately, you can't fix stupid in both cases.

RIP, when will anyone do anything about these lindo of accidents, they tret them like toys, putting totally illegal exhausts, and then riding them like idiots, i live mear the motorway and see it every day, where is the PSP, and now another two lives are taken and all because nobody does anything

I remember this story. Did a group of the Sailors get bad conduct records? If this was a cruise ship they would have hailed heroes and lawyers would be fighting their case.
