Covid-19 Update

Today there are three new positive cases to report. These are three imported cases, coming from the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region, from Spain and Poland.

There are also two situations that are being studied by health authorities. Epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

  1. shame, but yes, te be expected. If you let tourists in from infested countries, theere are bound to be new cases. But, if they are identified by the tests at the airport, it’s OK. Madeira needs the tourism, and as long as people who are infected are identified and isolated, we will be fine. Pity for the people involved, there goes a nice holiday. But that’s the risk you take when you fly out here untested.

  2. It’s a shame to be infected by coronavirus ?, espeunow that it’s really increasing … we do need tourists on the island ? but healthy people , otherwise it’s better to stay in your own home ….

      Easyjet and Ryanair are easy targets. They specialise in cheap air travel. I first came to Madeira in 1968 when only TAP would land here. Over thirty flights have been with Easyjet, I’ve stayed in Oporto, Porto Santo and Tenerife because of crosswinds in Madeira. I’m clocking up 60 visits having been here four times this year with Christmas yet to come. Came back last Thursday, Two fares, returns, carry on luggage only, £95.00 plus Air Tax. If Easyjet had decided to cancel the Thursday flight because cross winds had been forecast I would have respected that, they’re a commercial business. Let us hope the rumour is wrong because that will be a nail in the Madeira economy. If Easyjet go under where’s the competition to Jet2 ?
