Two people have suffered multiple injuries and are considered to be seriously injured, following the accident that occurred this morning on the expressway in Santa Rita. A woman and baby were also taken to the hospital, but apparently unhurt.
Just as the DIÁRIO had already advanced, the accident that involved three cars occurred at 9 am and caused the traffic to be diverted to the exit of the highway, before the climb of Santa Rita.
The Portuguese Red Cross sent two ambulances to the scene, providing assistance to the two most seriously injured. One of them needed to be released from inside the vehicle in which he was. For that, it was necessary the extrication material of the Firefighters Sapadores of Funchal who also mobilized a support car and another vehicle to spread bran on the road.
The Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters and the Sapadores Firefighters of Funchal transported a woman and a baby aged about 1 year to the emergency room at Funchal Hospital. Both appeared to be well, but given the characteristics of the accident, they were taken to this health unit.
