The tourist of French nationality who fell this afternoon while walking the Pico Ruivo route has already been rescued by the helicopter.
The woman had injuries to her leg, was stabilized by the Santana Volunteer Firefighters who went to the scene with a GNR team, and will be transported to the Regional Civil Protection Service where she is already waiting for an ambulance from the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters, who will take her to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.
“This was the first rescue carried out in 2024, culminating in the 26th operation successfully completed, with the aforementioned team rescuing the 27th citizen since the beginning of its activity in this area, in a highly effective and efficient mission”, he informed the Regional Civil Protection Service.
