Three tourists were identified by the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) after they disregarded the signs and entered a path that was closed due to the large fire that is ravaging the Region.
Manuel Filipe, president of IFCN, confirmed to DIÁRIO that these three people were identified this morning and that they are subject to a fine.
“There are trails that are closed for safety reasons, such as Pico do Areeiro-Pico Ruivo, and others because they are being affected by the fires. We have members of the Forest Police and Nature Rangers at the beginning of the trail to prevent people from passing, but there are tourists in their own capacity who continue to disregard the signs”, he said, appealing to the common sense of the population not to put their lives at risk or those of those who will save them later.
Manuel Filipe also asked the population to take into account the recommendations issued, reminding that bonfires and barbecues are prohibited.
