It was 6:30 am when the Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol Volunteer Firefighters were alerted to a fire in Cova da Velha, in the Campanário area, in a forest area consisting of pine and eucalyptus trees, but also with at least one house.
Two vehicles were sent to the scene, and eight men who over the course of an hour fought the flames and prevented them from approaching the residence.
The fire has been controlled and is currently in the aftermath phase, according to the corporation, which remains in place.
