Shame on the security, and where are the Police???

The video below shows shocking scenes of the fight outside Vespas nightclub early this morning.

It begs the question where the security are, and why these kids are allowed to get so drunk inside the club. Also where or when did the police arrive….???

Please don’t watch the video if you don’t like scenes of violence.

  1. Madeira does seem to be changing…..However the combination of young men and alcohol results in this sort of thing anywhere I guess….

    1. I came to Madeira to get away from this behaviour, and where are the police .. they are quick enough to stop you panache k you vehicle. Get your priorities right.

  2. Agree…are they allowed at all to serve alcohol to already drunken people?
    None existing surveillance from security services? How is that possible?

  4. I fear this will just breed retaliation from friends and family between those involved. If the Police don’t get on top of this, it’s just a skip away from escalating to knives or worse

  5. What the hell, that asshole who kept kicking that person who was out cold should be jailed for life what an animal. I’ll be surprised if that person doesn’t have permanent brain damage. I’m from the island and this shit saddens me, gives a very poor image of my people. Another thing like someone wrote previously, where were the security people/bouncers.

  9. Security out there is a disgrace! In 2016, 2 nights before my wedding in Funchal I went out with the girls to Dubai night club, two guys were trying it on with my cousin and when another cousin told them to back off she wasn’t interested they threw punches. We all got thrown out and 2 guys trying to beat 12 girls? And everyone stood and watched!!! My sister got a broken nose and black eye, I got bruised and a couple other girls too, but we gave as good as we got in the end! Police were not willing to help! The club Dubai wouldn’t let us in to stop my sisters bleeding! The guys were known to the club but the club stayed quiet for what reason I don’t know! Absolutely disgusting behaviour!

I have to pass the club in my car every Saturday on my way to work, usually around 6:30 in the morning…… I have witnessed, much to my amazement, hoards of young people in varying degrees of drunkenness staggering in the street, many times standing directly in traffic daring any motorist to hit them…… one solution would be to impose a curfew……. do these kids really need to drink till dawn and then possibly drive home?….. a 2AM closing seems like a simple compromise between the club and the general public….. this incident is probably not as rare as the club would like you to believe…… it just happened to be caught on someone’s phone.

  14. Terrible. This looks more like the United States and what I hoped I was getting away from. Yes, where were the police?

  15. I think the general consensus is that:
    a) were they selling alcohol to under-age drinkers?
    b) why did they continue selling alcohol to punters who were drunk?
    c) does this club have bouncers/security? If so, why were they not in proper control?
    d) if there had been previous incidents why were the police not keeping an eye out for potential problems?
    e) what actions are CMF and the police taking to ensure this doesn’t happen again? I.e. closing the club until they get trained bouncers and putting in place checks to ensure drunkenness is kept in check. Revoking the club’s licence if they do not comply.
    f) check who owns the club. If it is the Sousas, look the other way and do nothing.

  16. It do not bear thinking about if someone got into a car, while drunk. The cost on the emergency services as well.

  18. Hello, in Portugal the private security cannot intervene on the public roads, it this proibited by nacional law it this not a police force!
