ALBUQUERQUE VIEWS RESTORATION WORK OF LEVADA DO MONTE MEDONHO

The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, will visit this Wednesday, at 11:30 am, the recovery work of Levada do Monte Medonho, in Paul da Serra.

The contract aims to recover 9.7 kilometers of levada originating in the vicinity of Bica da Cana and ending in the upper part of Tabua, with the objective of reducing water losses, guaranteeing more water to the 645 irrigators of the parishes of Tabua and Ribeira Brava, as well as improving the conditions of use of the Recommended Walking Path PR17 and safeguarding the natural and historical heritage.

This is an investment by the Regional Government of 2.8 million euros, 85% reimbursed by PRODERAM.

On the same day, but at 10 am, the government official visits a farm in the parish of Ribeira Brava, with a total area of ​​5,600 square meters.

The agricultural entrepreneur, a young Portuguese-descendant woman living in the Region for six years, benefited from support from PRODERAM, through three applications, totaling 131,499.00 euros.

The farm has banana and passion fruit production, with a view to export and the regional market, respectively.
