Madeira Electricity Company warns of fraudulent SMS messsge

Some Madeirans are receiving fraudulent messages on behalf of the Madeira Electricity Company (EEM).

The message informs that customers have outstanding amounts and is accompanied by an entity and ATM reference that has nothing to do with the company and whose purpose is to extort money from citizens. There are messages that come with an amount of 148 euros and others of 170 euros, threatening that they will cut the electricity if payment is not made by a certain date.

Diário Notícias contacted the Electricity Company of Madeira, which guaranteed that this is a scam, asking customers not to be fooled and, if they have any doubts, to contact EEM.
