With less than a dozen infected students out of the nearly 10,000 who were subjected to rapid antigen testing this week, the President of the Regional Government confessed to being surprised by so few positive cases among tested 3rd and Secondary students.
“The results of the students have been surprisingly positive so far”, he said yesterday during the visit to the Funchal Vaccination Center. For Miguel Albuquerque it was “a pleasant surprise to have so few infected students”, referring to less than ten cases identified among the approximately 10,000 rapid tests carried out with the student community.
In the next week, until Wednesday, the remaining students will be tested, many of whom will take the test already after the resumption of the face-to-face classes. As it had already happened this week.
“Nothing dramatic”, he concluded, thus devaluing the fact that many of them returned to school before being subjected to testing. Albuquerque claims that “it was impossible to do this quick test” to all students before the resumption of the face-to-face classes, but he feels at ease with the ‘good’ results already obtained among the youngest.
