PORTO DO FUNCHAL RECEIVES THREE VISITORS TODAY, ONE OF WHOM IS A NEWCOMER

Today, the Port of Funchal receives two transatlantic ships, the “AIDAluna”, which arrived early, and the “Royal Clipper”, which docked mid-morning.

Both ships are on 19-night cruises, with trips ending in the Caribbean, where they will be stationed until March.

It should be noted that the “AIDAluna” came from Lisbon, with 1,846 passengers and 632 crew, who will make an 11-hour stopover in Madeira, leaving at 6 pm, heading to St. Kitts, in the Caribbean.

This cruise departed from Kiel, Germany, on October 16th. This was followed by Goteborg, in Sweden, Dover, in England, Lisbon, now Funchal, then St. Kitts, Dominica, Guadaloupe, and the Dominican Republic. The ship returns to Europe on March 14th of next year.

The “Royal Clipper” arrived from Safi, with 185 passengers and 107 crew, staying in Madeira for 8 hours and departing at 6pm, heading to Bridgetown.

This cruise started on the 7th of this month, in Cannes, made stops in Corsica, Minorca, Ibiza, Motril, Malaga, Puerto Banus, Gibraltar, Tangier, Cadiz, Lisbon, Portimão, Safi, now, Funchal and ends the trip with Atlantic crossing to Bridgetown, where he arrives on November 4th.

The ship remains in the Caribbean until March 30, then makes the repositioning trip to Europe.

Later this afternoon, a third ship is expected, the debutant Spitsbergen, which will remain in Madeira for 27 hours.
