The mega nativity scene at Curral das Freiras, built by Associação Refúgio da Freira, is scheduled to open after the birth mass from the local parish, at 7 am. The nativity scene can be visited until visited 14 of January.
In this, which is the 20th edition of this initiative, which attracts both locals and tourists to Curral, take note of the opening hours.
- Day December 17th – from 7:30 am to 8:00 pm
- From 18 to 23 December – from 6:30 am to 8:00 am and from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
- Day December 24th – From 9:00 to 00:00
- Day December 25th – from 4pm to 8pm
- Days 26th and 27th December – From 9am to 8pm
- Weekends: Saturdays – From 10am to 8pm; Sundays – 9:00 am to 8:00 pm
- On working days – From 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
- From 8 to 12 January – From 10am to 6pm
- From 15 to 19 January – For groups, schools and institutions. By appointment only.
The Curral Christmas market is also scheduled to open today.
The traditional birth mass was presided over by the Bishop of Funchal, D. Nuno Brás, in the local parish, at 5:30 am.
