Investigation also aims at Regional Government competitions with the AFA Group in the presidency of Jardim

News is being advanced by Expresso.

There are at least 10 urban projects by AFA Group consortiums, prior to Miguel Albuquerque’s presidency, which are under the scrutiny of the Public Ministry. The news is reported by the newspaper Expresso, which reports that we are talking about urban projects that were carried out between 2014 and 2015, when Alberto João Jardim was still leading the Region.

The same newspaper indicates that these contracts were signed when Pedro Calado still belonged to the senior management of the AFA group. In 2012, Pedro Calado was vice-president of the Funchal Chamber. In 2014 he held a position in this construction group. In 2017 he was appointed vice-presidency of the Regional Government of Madeira led by Miguel Albuquerque. He has been president of the Funchal City Council since 2021.

Expresso explains that we are talking about contracts carried out by external consortiums from this civil construction group: reconstruction of sidewalks for access to Funchal Beach; the reconstruction of sections of two regional roads and an urban section; or the construction of embankments and walls in various locations in Madeira.
