Falling rocks once again blocked the Fajã das Galinhas road

The problem of falling rocks in the Fajã das Galinhas area persists. This week, due to bad weather, the road became blocked again following several landslides, making it impossible for heavy vehicles to pass through.

According to a resident, last Friday several large stones fell on the site and, on Saturday, around 500 meters from the first landslide, significant stones fell again.

The situation continues to make residents apprehensive and, similar to what happened last January, they once again expressed their fear on stormy days.

At the time, the Municipal Council of Câmara de Lobos admitted that the insecurity will remain because “the problem is beyond the reach of the municipality”.

Leonel Silva recalled that the council is preparing all the procedures to build housing outside of there and welcome the residents of Fajã das Galinhas as “it is impossible to achieve the stabilization of that area”.
