More than 200 hospitalized per year due to synthetic drugs

São João de Deus Health Home with around 330 users.

The situation of patients dependent on psychoactive substances welcomed at Casa de Saúde São João de Deus has been stabilized since 2021, after the ‘boom’ that occurred in the previous two years boosted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Eduardo Lemos, director of Casa de Saúde reveals that between 200 and 210 patients arrive at the institution each year dependent on the new drugs. He fears that the new drug law could lead to a new lack of control in the situation. (think you might find there is already lack of control, these people work with their eyes closed and their brains in sleep mode)

Casa de Saúde São João de Deus currently welcomes 328 inpatient patients. The majority, around 200 users, for reasons of a psychogeriatric nature, palliatives, chronic mental illness and unaccountable dangerous patients.

Next are patients with acute mental illness, totaling 45, who suffer from schizophrenia, depression and personality disorders. There are also 31 users integrated into the alcohol treatment program, 24 in general and integrated Continuous Care, and 15 drug victims, dependent on new psychoactive substances.
