10 PSP officers resume search for missing tourist couple in São Vicente

Early this morning, the search for the French tourist couple who have been missing since March 16th in São Vicente was resumed.

On what could be the final day of investigation, around 10 members of the Regional Command of the Madeira Public Security Police (PSP) are on the ground, a person that has been at the center of all operations from the outset, which also involved the Police. Judiciary (PJ), the National Republican Guard (GNR), the Madeira Operational Command, the Regional Civil Protection Service, SANAS and the Maritime Authority.

“Yesterday, at the end of the day, we decided to hit the probable area again, that area close to the path and the area next to the residences, because some time has passed and to try to see if we can also detect any odor of a corpse”, explained João Góis, PSP commissioner, who assured that the authorities remain without any concrete clue as to the whereabouts of the tourist couple, who were last seen on Saturday, March 16, around 3:45 pm, heading towards Porto Moniz, in Calhau site, more precisely on Avenida Marcos Marques Rosa.

However, given the limited information the Police have, the Commissioner suspects that this will be the last day to carry out more intensive searches. “But we never close all search actions, in the sense that we never give up on finding people. If we find any clue or trace we will reopen processes”, he stressed.
