  2. They weren’t half as happy as we were waiting on the ground at the airport for the EZY to land to take us home after many hours delay . A dozen or so arm chair spotters had been watching its first approaches, go-arounds and final diversion to Porto Santo for fuel with interest on EZY’s own flight tracker. With stories of aircraft returning to UK with their passengers We watched the hop from Porto Santo with bated breath. There was a mighty groan as the pilot went around yet again and then inexplicably (to us) disappeared off to the south . Turned out he was using a longer straight-in approach to land successfully on 05. The cheers from the terminal raised the roof ! Whoever landed the plane ( co-pilot was ‘Lauren’) they did a magnificent job . As an instrument rated private pilot myself who has visited as SLF ( self loading freight) for twenty years I fully appreciate the skill of this ‘Captains only’ approach . If it was a ‘line checkout ‘ then well done. From Peter Spencer now home in UK avoiding a night on the airport floor.
