A large fire recently broke out near the Meia Serra Solid Waste Treatment Plant in Santa Cruz.
Three fire departments are on site – Santa Cruz Firefighters, Madeira Volunteer Firefighters and Funchal Firefighters, with a total of eight vehicles.
According to what we have been able to ascertain, there are no reports of injuries.
A source from Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) reports that the fire broke out at a landfill, far from any sensitive infrastructure.
