Madeira registers anther 30 new cases of Covid-19

Today there are 30 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in RAM. These were 10 imported cases (5 from the UK, 2 from France, 1 from the Netherlands, 1 from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region and 1 from the North) and 20 cases of local transmission.

There is also a record of another 34 recovered cases, and the Region currently accounts for 358 active cases, of which 72 are imported and 286 are of local transmission.

  1. As I am coming to the island next week I am interested to find out
    at what stage are these people being diagnosed with Covid. Is it at the start of their holiday or
    at the end. I, for one, have been testing at home every 3 days to make sure that we are Covid free and will continue to do so prior to getting our PCR test 2 days before we fly. It’s important to keep everyone travelling safe plus our host country.

  2. I’m still amazed that people who are obviously not double vaccinated are travelling from the UK and not getting tested first. Relying on the test when landing at Madeira Airport is very risky.

    2. I would like to say obviously but perhaps not, it shows that their symptoms do not in any great way inconvenience them. Personally if I had the slightest symptoms I would not fly with out a test. This is a problem that Madeira has successfully tackled by mandatory testing at the airport.

  3. I can’t believe people not double vaccinated are travelling. Think they are being very selfish to other passengers on the plane. Hope I’m not sitting beside someone like that when I come
