Corruption case latest

Operation Zarco undermines the construction of the new hospital.

Operation Zarco undermines the work on the new hospital. Public Prosecutor’s Office suspects that the tender for awarding the largest public contract in the Region was arranged. At stake are two contracts worth 94 million. This is the subject that makes the headlines in today’s printed edition of DIÁRIO Notícias.

Life goes on with several unknowns. Albuquerque resigns on Monday, with immediate effect and the PSD will present a new Government with no names yet. Elections on March 10th define the party’s survival. Yesterday’s PSD-M Regional Council was marked by calls for mobilization, but also some criticism of the party leadership and attacks on the CDS.

Evidence arrives by the box full. More than a week after the arrests, the MP continues to delay the delivery of all indicative material to the court.

Custódio Correia will be heard again today, the first of the 3 to be interrogated, so it’s very unlikely Pedro Calado will start to be heard today or even tomorrow.

“They are all in political survival.” In an interview with DIÁRIO, political scientist Teresa Ruel looks at the current crisis in the Region and states that all we know is “that there is something bizarre that is happening”.
