A German tourist who went missing yesterday after being swept out to sea from the beach at Achadas da Cruz, near Porto Moniz is still missing. Rough seas meant a search was almost impossible yesterday by boat, and today searches were called off at 14.30 after the sea conditions became bad and the worsening of weather with fog. The tourist was male age 63, and accompanied by another male who manged to stay safe, they are staying in a hotel in Calheta.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) searches will begin along the coast.
