In one hour it rained more than 30 liters per m2 in Porto Santo

Between 4 pm and 5 pm today, the rain was torrential in Porto Santo, confirming the orange warning that had been issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

During this period the amount of rainfall was around 33 liters per square meter, which caused some damage on the ‘golden island’.

Although there were no serious events, there were some landslides (next to the Campo de Cima roundabout), as well as some potholes, in the so-called Rua dos Teixeiras.

DIARIO knows that the Regional Directorate for Roads as well as Pedro Calado’s aide, on the Golden Island, Roberto Silva, and the local Civil Protection, are and will continue to monitor the evolution of the situation given the warnings that may last until the morning of this Thursday.
