This Saturday, August 29th, at 9:30 pm, the ‘famous’ flares will light up on the various slopes of the Machico valley, as part of the celebrations of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament.
This year, according to the municipality, the tradition “will be a little different, due to the context caused by the Covid pandemic19”.
In this way, the municipality asks those who come to assist to respect the recommendations issued by the Regional Health Authority, maintaining distance and wearing a mask.
It should be remembered that the ‘beams’ reached the final stage of the RTP program ‘7 Wonders’. The application was submitted by the Municipality of Machico and was the winner of the regional qualification, moving on to the semi-final of the event in terms of ‘Popular Culture’. Even so, it failed to qualify for the final that will take place on September 5, in Bragança.
