BA Flights Gatwick Heathrow

Many of you are getting your flights cancelled today with British Airways. It seems they are cancelling all Gatwick flights, and will be continuing to fly from Heathrow, these are flights from November through to March next year.

They are not making anything clear and just cancelling your flights, but I believe you can rebook your flights from Heathrow, at no extra cost to yourself.

If anyone has rebooked flights can they please comment below to help others.

  1. Nightmare to rebook today.
    Had our Dec, Jan and March flights cancelled.
    Wasn’t able to rebook online !

    One the phone for 45 mins, but eventually sorted.

    Flights appears to being transferred back to Gatwick on 29 March 2021

  2. Hi Toby, I have managed to rebook my 30th December flights today but had to call BA to sort it. Phone wait time was only about 10 minutes so not too bad. No additional charges incurred.

  3. BA flight cancelled but phoned and rebooked from Heathrow no trouble and very helpful.

  4. As I commented in the previous post, we received an email cancelling our December/January flights giving us 2 options. 1) take vouchers 2) re-book. I rebooked and ended up getting different days which means 3 days less holiday but a holiday nonetheless.

    Heathrow is easier for us anyway.

  5. Had my October & November + next February’s changed to Heathrow, manage my booking does not easily show how to change. Called customer services, it only took 10 minutes including waiting time to sort all 4 flights. Seriously worry about the future for Gatwick.

    1. I have heard they are all cutting back operations at Gatwick, this is to get rid of a lot of older staff, and then I guess bring in new younger cheaper staff, lets see what happens.

  7. I received an email this morning cancelling the flight from Gatwick. The email contained a link to the BA website, where a voucher could be requested or the flights re-booked (at no extra cost). When I tried to re-book from Heathrow, the site said I was already booked on the Heathrow flight. This did not seem right, so I rang BA on 0800 727800. They sorted everything out, kept the same flight times and seat reservations – just from Heathrow. Including hold time, it took about 25 mins.

  8. Today my Easy JET return flight on the 26th October has been moved from the lunchtime slot to an evening departure. So not just B.A. flights affected.

  9. Like all the above comments re BA cancelling. Found all the replies very useful as here in Madeira at the moment and didn’t want to phone BA until back in the UK. Hopefully BA will realise that the Confirm alternative flights button is missing and I won’t need to phone ?

  10. We cancelled both our BA April 2020 and January 2021 flights, BA offered our money back relating to the 2020 flight and offered a rebooking for April 2021 for the January flight(we could have also had a refund for the January flight)
    We accepted the refund for the 2020 flight, rebooking the 2nd at no extra cost or rebooking fees involved.
    We had been advised that BA would longer fly from Gatwick, our new flight number is a Heathrow flight,however, BA have said that its possible they will fly some European flights from the Birmingham Hub,if it happens, we have the option to change to the Birmingham Hub.
    Birmingham will be considerably more cost effective than Heathrow.
    With all of this, It makes you believe BA were already going to pull out of Gatwick, Corona virus or not.

  11. Myself and my wife were booked on a BA flight out of Gatwick on Tuesday Sept 22nd returning two weeks later. That was then changed several weeks later to flights on the same day but from Heathrow. A week or so after that the outgoing flight only was cancelled. I found out that not only have BA pulled out of Gatwick they are only flying out of Heathrow three days a week. We are now booked to fly out on Sept. 21st out of Heathrow. The only days they fly currently are Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

    A final thought, they only cancelled an outgoing flight but not an incoming so watch out!!

  12. Had email this morning cancelling BA November flights . I didn’t want a voucher so although we are in Madeira at the moment we were able to call +442032500145. We used option 4 and re booked from LHR to Funchal same fight number same reference number and times and date for November. It took 25 mins on the phone,
    I would also like to say how slick the testing for COVID-19 was when we arrived 10 days ago.

  13. OK – Covid-19 is a pandemic but only the best companies will survive based on looking after its custome4s. We used to love BA.
    We were booked LGW-FNC-LGW. BA cancelled LGW-FNC and changed return flight to LHR.
    We were left in the lurch with no contact from BA regarding an outbound flight and it’s a long 1500 miles to swim.
    Had to ring 15 times to get a booking from LHR-FNC. I knew more about the LHR-FNC flights than the BA Agent! We were rebooked and then!!!!!!!!!! BA cancelled the LHR-FNC outbound flight!
    So we cancelled and are now flying Jet2. BA Agent made it clear tgat he didn’t give a toss so….. It’s goodbye from us BA.
    Shame about LGW. I cannot see BA returning to LGW.

  14. We also had our outgoing Gatwick flight cancelled by BA this morning for departure on 18 Mar 2021 to Funchal. Oddly the return flight was unaffected. I called BA and got straight through. We have been rebooked on the same flight (but now departing from Heathrow) and they’ve even booked us with the same preselected seats. We are wondering if they’ll eventually do the same for our return flight on 29th Mar from Funchal as currently we seem to be going out from Heathrow and then returning to Gatwick..! Anyway, so glad to still be booked to return to the island 🙂 And thanks for the postcard, Tobi, it arrived this morning.

    1. Dan, don’t wait. Check avaiability on line first then ring BA (if you can get through). Do not assume that they will do anything pro-actively based on our experience. Try Jet2? Cheers David

        The bookings are still confirmed. The problem is the departure is now out of Heathrow but the return is into Gatwick. I have a feeling they will cancel the return; once they do I will call them immediately, just like I did today. Thanks for the message though, I’ve never flown Jet2, are they good?

  15. Our BA flights (FNC to LGW) on November 13th were cancelled but I followed the link on the cancellation email and rebooked on-line with no problem. It appeared that we had already been provisionally booked for the same day into Heathrow, so an option to agree to this was presented first. But there is also an option to “change the date”; even though we bought the flights last December at a fairly low price, we were given a choice of several flights into Heathrow without any additional charges being made.
    Our flights (LGW to FNC) in October were also cancelled (i.e. changed from Gatwick to Heathrow) and we were happy to accept this change which we did on line.
    We also had return flights booked for my sister-in-law to come to UK in October which were also cancelled (moved from Gatwick to Heathrow); in this case we wanted a refund which we had to request through a phone call – the agent was very helpful and the refund came through in 10 days.
    I was told by airport staff that Gatwick South is closed until at least Easter 2021. It is probably much easier for BA to use Heathrow in the mean time rather than set up an operation from Gatwick North, but whether they will return to Gatwick is another matter.
    Overall I think BA have been fair and most of all I am pleased that they are still doing their best to keep flights going to Madeira.

  16. My flight cancelled today checked ” My Booking” and discovered flight same time same number now going from Heathrow . Box saying we were already booked on the changed flight , phone call confirmed everything ok took 5 minutes. Totally surprised

    We had the same problem! Our BA Dec/Jan booking was cancelled yesterday (17th) with no explanation. Went on to the Manage My Bookings web page, followed the link and saw that we were automatically booked on the Heathrow flight (same day and time).

    HOWEVER, I wanted to double-check so telephoned BA, waited 45 mins for a response. It turned out that we were NOT automatically booked on the HR flight! So just a warning,…. please double check! ?

    Very much looking forward to seeing all our great friends in Madeira after what has been a most unusual year!

  18. Aparentlly BA will bring it back short haulls next 28 of March. Now, they got 5 long haulls destinations from Gatwick but the idea it is to bring more long haulls from October….let’s see!!

  19. Yes they just cancel your flight and refers to website. There you cannot get anywhere – so you need to call and get them to transfer your booking onto the LHR flight. Would be more fair to transfer automatically to the other flight from LHR and then ask client if that is ok. Service good once you got thru but in theory the LHR flight could have been full and then client would suffer – at no fsult of their own!

  20. I have had my flights to and from Tenerife flinging from gatwick cancelled. However BA rebooked flights for me from Heathrow, same times same flight numbers. Great service, all I had to do was click on line to confirm acceptance.

  21. Got notified by email revoked same flight times and date by BA just had to confirm we accepted the change
    Holiday Extras refunded Gatwick parking immediately
    Booked Heathrow parking with Holiday Extras cheapest was more than double for the same period at Gatwick

  22. Our BA flights in December and March were cancelled and I couldn’t rebook on line so I rang the freephone number and managed to rebook, same dates and times but from and to Heathrow. The only problem is that I had paid to choose seats and was told I would have to do it again on Manage my Booking but I was then charged again.
