Registered unemployment rose again in August. With 18,900 unemployed, Madeira currently represents 4.6% of the country’s total.
According to the Employment and Vocational Training Institute (IEFP), the Region recorded a 26.6% increase in the number of unemployed, compared to the same period last year. In practice, there are 3,975 more unemployed people.
Compared to July, the increase was 3.1%, equivalent to another 574 people.
At the end of August 2020, 409 331 unemployed individuals were registered with the Employment Services of the Mainland and the Autonomous Regions.
