BAD WEATHER STARTS TO HINDER LANDINGS AT MADEIRA AIRPORT

The bad weather that will be felt today, especially in the afternoon of this Sunday, is already making life difficult for some pilots at Madeira airport. This morning, a TAP plane from Porto only landed on the second attempt.

In the first, in the direction Santa Cruz – Machico, it was made to the runway and when it looked like it was going to land, it made a ‘parallel’ to the runway, very close to the ground, but it ended up gaining speed, going up again.

He took a 10-minute detour, then appeared in the direction Machico – Santa Cruz, making the landing without any setbacks and, apparently, quite calm.

A gust of wind in the valley that precedes the start of the runway must have been at the origin of the first ‘aborted’ landing.

It should be remembered that after 12h00 a very strong wind is expected in the area, potentially causing conditionality in operations at Madeira International Airport.
