The Machico City Council decided to suspend public attendance services and suspend Christmas shows. At stake is the exponential increase in covid-19 cases in the locality.
The closed buildings are: Solar do Ribeirinho, the Casa da Música, the Madeira Whale Museum, the Municipal Fire Department and the Francisco Álvares de Nóbrega Municipal Library, the Municipal Warehouse and the Água de Pena Sports Park. The Paços do Concelho building is also closed to the public, so calls must be made via telephone, or by e-mail.
The children’s playgrounds in the municipality will be closed as well as the Aldeia Natal, which is conditioned.
With regard to the cultural program planned for the Christmas season, the Municipality informs that it has canceled all planned activities.
The Municipality thus leaves the call for everyone to take appropriate precautions regarding the prevention of contagion by Covid-19, avoiding crowds of people and always opting for the use of the mask and the frequent disinfection of the hands.
It sounds like cases are really spreading in this area, I’m expecting a large number of cases later when they announce them, and have they really got these large chains under control. I really think not….
