The young man’s family, Jean Vargas, a native of Câmara de Lobos, who died in the United Kingdom, has already obtained the amount for the funeral and transfer of the body to the island of Madeira.
The young man’s sister created a fundraising campaign to bring her brother’s body home. Jean passed away at Bedford Hospital last Monday from a lung infection.
As the family did not have the financial means to pay for the transfer of the body, it launched an online campaign to raise £7,500 to cover expenses. Today it has reached over 9,000 pounds and almost 300 donors have participated.
