MADEIRA PROHIBITS MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE BETWEEN 11 PM AND 5 AM

From 00:00 hours on January 5, 2021, circulation on the public road will be prohibited in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, between 11:00 pm and 5:00 am.

The Regional Government will announce some exceptions tomorrow in a Government Resolution, in a measure that aims to control the spread of the virus.

  2. I assume this is being reported as it happens, these measures alone are as useful as a chocolate teapot.

  4. A curfew seems a good idea. Brings home the seriousness of the pandemic. The balance between the economy and lives seems impossible. Better to batten down the hatches until mass vaccination. I see that the UK is on a banned flight list to Portugal / Madeira other than for residents. ? But it appears the latter are the cause of importing the virus ? Because most of England is in Tier 4 = no overseas travel !

    The tiering system seems not to work in the UK. possibly because too many people ignore any restrictions. Hence some London Hospitals are now overwhelmed and having to ship virus patients off to the West Country. With 70,000 killed by the virus and up to 50,000 new cases daily – how cannot people get the message ? Even my Surrey Borough of 150,000 now has 1500 active virus cases.

    Wish I lived in the Scilly Isles or at least at our cottage in Cornwall. Which we cannot visit from a Tier 4 area ! Heigh ho ! Roll on the vaccine. Which with Oxford Astra Zeneca is a UK triumph. How clever are our scientists.

    1. I think 1% is no to bad a percentage for Surrey, I’m from there and I know many people with it, all mostly from their children from school.

  5. Wish they would get a plan together and explain how the vaccinations are going to be rolled out on the island. How to register? Where to register? How many…as in numbers… are being vaccinated daily?
    This is important to get the pandemic under control too!

  6. Does this curfew also for the mentally unstable/ Junkies / alcoholics / homeless people ? that roam streets of Funchal all night
    every night looking to rob people sometime using weapons knifes etc ?

  7. Irs easy Tobi, how many people are moveing around between 11pm and 5am
    If you want people to come on side ask them to do something they can understand, align to and see sense in.
    By making people adhere to existing rules would be a good starting point, that said we have noticed a big uplift in compliance in shops over past week or so, so not all bad news.
