82 New Cases for Madeira

On a day when the Region reached 60 deaths, 131 more recoveries were reported. There are also 66 hospitalized patients, seven of whom are in intensive care

Today there are 82 new positive cases to report in Madeira. There are 79 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with positive case contacts, and three other imported cases (two from the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Region and one from the Northern Region of Portugal). Epidemiological investigations are still ongoing, says the Regional Health Directorate.

On the other hand, there are 131 more recovered cases to report. The Region therefore accounts for 1,705 active cases of Covid-19.

Regarding the isolation of these active cases, it should be noted that 66 people are hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça (59 people in Multipurpose Units and seven in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to Covid-19) and 40 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

As for patients from the mainland (Lisbon and Vale do Tejo Region), who were admitted to the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, since January 30, one patient remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit and another in the Multipurpose Unit.

In total, there are 223 situations that are currently under consideration by health authorities, which are related to contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

Regarding the active surveillance of positive case contacts, 1,708 people are being monitored by the health authorities of the various municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo.
