MADEIRA WITH 106 MORE NEW CASES OF COVID-19

There are 106 new positive cases to report this Wednesday in Madeira, with the Region now counting, since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,767 confirmed cases of covid-19 in the regional territory.

These are 103 cases of local transmission, most of them already associated with contacts or contexts of positive cases and three imported cases (from Poland, Germany and Venezuela). Epidemiological investigations of the cases are still ongoing.

It should also be noted that two of the cases of local transmission reported this Wednesday were identified in the context of the epidemiological investigation underway in a Residential Structure for Elderly People in the public sector, in this case at Lar da Bela Vista. With regard to the outbreak identified in this institution, a total of 70 cases of covid-19 (47 residents and 23 employees) were confirmed to date. Some definitive results of laboratory tests carried out today are still awaited.

With 97 more recovered cases to be reported and the Region now counts 2,777 cases recovered from Covid-19. In total there are 1,955 active cases, of which 114 are imported cases and 1841 are locally transmitted.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 79 people are hospitalized at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (73 people in a Multipurpose Unit and 6 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to covid-19) and 42 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

In total, there are 261 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, which are related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM, EPERAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
