Madeira registers 55 new cases of Covid-19 and 96 recovered

Today, February 23, there are 55 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection reported in RAM, so the region now counts 6959 confirmed cases of COVID-19. These are 55 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with positive case contacts. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

There are 96 recovered cases to report. RAM now counts 5491 cases recovered from COVID-19.

There have been, to date, a total of 63 deaths associated with cases of COVID-19 reported in RAM.

There are 1405 active cases, of which 28 are imported cases and 1377 are locally transmitted. Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that 54 people are hospitalized at the Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital (51 people in Multipurpose Units and 3 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19) and 29 people are in isolation at a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

In total, there are 233 situations that are currently being considered by the health authorities, these being related to travelers identified at the airport, contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM, EPERAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

Regarding the active surveillance of positive case contacts, 1567 people are being accompanied by the health authorities of the various municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo. Regarding the surveillance of travelers, 3652 people are also being accompanied by the authorities, using the MadeiraSafe application.
