Access roads to the highest peaks remain closed

When there are only traces of the snow that fell by surprise on Saturday morning at the highest peaks of Madeira, the access roads to the highest points are still closed to car traffic.

In the case of the ER 202 between Poiso and Pico do Areeiro, which had been completely closed on Saturday – from Poiso – the section was meanwhile reopened to the vicinity of Poço da Neve, and from the junction with the forest road between Areeiro and Eira do Serrado, at the last minute it remained closed. The same in relation to the forest road in question (Eira do Serrado / Chão do Areeiro), the same happens in the high zone of Santana on the forest road between Pico das Pedras and Achada do Teixeira, which this morning also remains prohibited to the circulation of traffic.
