Astrazeneca batch associated with adverse reactions was not received in Madeira

The Regional Health Directorate issued a note stating that the batch of AstraZeneca vaccine possibly associated with some adverse reactions was not received in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, nor in Portugal.

Recalls that on March 5, the Region received 8,500 doses of vaccines from AstraZeneca. “Since this date, nearly 2,400 vaccines have been administered, in complete safety and without any complications”.

We recall that, as attested by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), in a published note, “the benefits of using AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine outweigh the possible risks”, so the vaccination program in the region remains unchanged.

This position is supported by the National Medicines Authority (Infarmed), which today maintained the recommendations for its use in Portugal.
