The President of the Regional Government (GR), Miguel Albuquerque, visits the John dos Passos Cultural Center tomorrow, at 11.30 am, where, from February 1 to June 30, 2021, the pilot project ‘Digital Nómadas’ takes place.
The project has as promoters the Regional Secretariat of Economy and Startup Madeira and has a partnership with the community of digital nomads, local companies [hoteliers and owners of local accommodation, tourist entertainment companies, restaurants, rent-a-car, health, consultants, lawyers, etc.), the John dos Passos Cultural Center, NOS Madeira (internet) and international platforms (Nomadx and Flatio.com).
This initiative aims to attract Digital Nómadas to Madeira and Porto Santo, constituting, says the Regional Government, “an opportunity for the region to be a pioneer and make a difference in a fast-growing market niche”.
Ponta do Sol was the municipality chosen to test the concept from February 1 to June 30, 2021. “Knowing the needs of nomads, adapting products and services to the needs, involving the community and private entities were some of the challenges identified for this pilot phase ”, explains the GR.
