Madeira registers today 58 new cases of COVID-19 and 123 situations under study

Madeira today registers 58 new cases of infection by SARS-CoV-2. There are 58 cases of local transmission, most of which are already associated with positive case contacts. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

Thus, according to the newsletter of the Regional Health Directorate, the Region now accounts for 7671 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There are 763 active cases, of which 19 are imported cases and 744 are locally transmitted.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, it should be noted that 35 people are hospitalized at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça (28 people in Polyvalent Units and 7 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19) and 16 people are in isolation in a dedicated hotel unit, the rest remaining in their own accommodation.

DRS points out that today there are 86 more recovered cases to report, with the Region now accounting for 6841 recovered cases of COVID-19.

Today, with 1 death to be reported among the confirmed cases in the RAM, the region counts, to date, a total of 67 deaths associated with COVID-19.

In total, there are 123 situations that are currently being considered by the health authorities, these being related to travelers identified at the airport, contacts with positive cases or other situations reported to the SRS24 line or to SESARAM.
