  1. I remember that evening. We were just finishing dinner in the Porta da Lado when everything started shaking. Everyone rushed into the street….at first we didn’t realise it was an earthquake, maybe a building had collapsed or something? Walked back up the hill & people from the Carlton were also out in the street & everyone realised it was an earthquake….my first.

  2. That evening I was at the Nini Design Center for dinner, the world was still fine despite earthquakes. A week later on March 14th I left Madeira. I was 10 times on the beautiful island, will I ever come back? Probably not, too much incredible happened in one year.

  3. I wonder how many husbands turned over and asked their wife’s,

    “Did the Earth move for you, Darling ?”

    and I wonder how many replied ?
