The wind that is too strong in the area of Madeira International Airport – with a gust of up to 76 km / h, in the last hour, has already diverted the easyJet flight (U27585) from Porto.
The aircraft, an Airbus A320, which had left the Sá Carneiro Airport at 7:05 am, was due to arrive in Madeira at 9:05 am. After about 45 minutes in the circles between the north coast of Madeira Island and Porto Santo (completed 7 laps), the British low cost airline’s plane is now back in Porto.
The cargo plane, the Swiftair ATR 72, is also in circles in the expectation that conditions will emerge to complete the approach to the runway and try to land in Santa Cruz. Landing is scheduled for 9:41 am, as soon as the wind allows. But as shown in the image above this plane has diverted to Porto Santo.
Inter-island flights are also being affected by strong gusts that are expected to continue until 6 pm, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere. The Binter plane has already returned to the runway in Porto Santo.
