MAINTENANCE ON THE SHIP LOBO MARINHO AMOUNTED TO 1.5 MILLION EUROS

The recent maintenance on the ship “Lobo Marinho” of Porto Santo Line, cost the shipowner 1.5 million euros.

The maintenance to which the ship was subjected, in Viana do Castelo, provided the ship with an innovative scheme of painting the hull in silicone (HEMPAGUARD X7 – product without organostin compounds, acting as biocides and in accordance with the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Antifouling Systems on Ships, adopted by IMO in October 2001), which serves as a defense against fouling, a solution that also provides a great reduction in the friction of the ship’s hull in the water, associating the protection of the marine environment with the reduction of gas emissions pollutants to the atmosphere (CO2, NOx, SOx and Particles).

According to a note sent to our editorial staff, Porto Santo Line selected the Portuguese shipyard of “West Sea”, in Viana do Castelo, “in which a deep intervention was carried out on the ship, which amounted to 1.5 million Euros, which, operating within the scope of a public service concession, it does not enjoy any compensatory damages from the State or the Autonomous Region of Madeira “, it can be read.

The statement added that “Porto Santo Line went beyond demanding international standards”.
