Woman fell overboard while taking photos at Ponta do Sol

A 32-year-old woman believed to be of polish nationality fell into the sea at Ponta do Sol earlier this morning and was rescued by the Maritime Police.

According to the Diario, the victim was taking photographs when she became unbalanced and fell into the water.

Two people reportedly threw themselves into the sea to help her, one of those a PSP agent who was in the area, the lady was rescued by the Maritime Police.

The Firemen of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol were also on site.

The woman was transported on a boat to Funchal, where she was awaited by a team of Firefighters from Funchal who transported her to the hospital where she was admitted with signs of hypothermia.
