Covid Measures in place till after Easter

Although some pandemic control measures are in effect until next Monday, March 22, the President of the Regional Government reaffirmed today that they will remain valid, at least until the first week of April.

“The rules for Easter will remain the same as they are now,” he said. He said that the only exception would be the reopening, in the Easter week, of visits “without physical contact” to care homes, because vaccination with these elderly people is very advanced and there are no outbreak situations in these residential structures.

He also refused the hypothetical scenario of banning the connection between municipalities, as is expected to happen in mainland Portugal and at Easter last year it also existed in Madeira.

In view of the current epidemiological situation, Albuquerque considers that “here in Madeira there is little point in doing so”.
