ASTRAZENECA VACCINE WILL CONTINUE TO BE ADMINISTERED, SAYS MIGUEL ALBUQUERQUE

Reacting to suspicions about the AstraZeneca vaccine against Covid-19, the President of the Regional Government stressed that there is no indication from WHO or the European Medicines Agency to interrupt its administration, so the vaccination process will proceed normally.

“Everything is going well,” said Miguel Albuquerque, on the sidelines of a visit to the Convent of Santa Clara, in Funchal. “This issue was raised, but they are effects as there is in the flu vaccine or any other vaccine. At this moment there is no recommendation from WHO or the European agency for the vaccine to stop being administered.”
The government official stressed that “the objective is to have all, about 9 thousand teachers and educational assistants all vaccinated by the 9th, and the students tested by the 16th of April, to start all teaching cycles with the best safety conditions. “.

  2. I agree with Andy E. My wife and I have our first dose of AZ, waiting for our 2nd at the end of this month. Not worried. It’s the press that’s causing the problems, peddling fear.

  3. Well done that man ? many thousands of doses have gone to waste in France thanks to Macron’s comments.

  5. Any woman who has taken the contraceptive pill was at much higher risk from blood clots than having the AZ jab. And no-one really mentions it. As one of our doctors said on TV last night, “you are more likely to be dead from Covid by Christmas, than the AZ vaccination”. Blunt and to the point.

  6. Neither North Wales Bob, Maurice or Max have valid or sensible views. Look at the data, assess the risk and form a view based on objective statistical criteria, not meaningless anti eu rhetoric or anti vaccine dogma.

      1. Because all of your views contain a strong anti eu bias which blinds you to the facts and renders you incapable of presenting a balanced, considered view. Reread your posts and reflect.

Maybe, but whilst you were howling for blood over the eu exercising caution over the AZ jab the UK and EU regulators worked swiftly and meticulously to find a very rare but real serious side effect which means the eu were right all along to be cautious until the findings were published. Not every action with regard to the AZ jab can be interpreted as the eu “having a go” at the UK.

  8. I am happy that people under the age of 60 are getting a different vaccine in my country and not an AZ vaccination. I support the decision made here in my country. And I think it is a wise decision by our minister. Because I said no to the AZ vaccination. I have good reasons for this. That’s why I’m glad that I can now get another vaccination.
